North Island Community Services Society (NICSS) is a nonprofit agency, established in 1978. We are a CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited agency, as of 2017, maintaining a minimum standard of excellence in quality services for the people of the north island. NICSS provides a variety of community services to the communities in the Mount Waddington Region, including but not limited to Port Hardy, Port McNeill, Alert Bay, Sointula, Coal Harbour, Fort Rupert and Quatsino.
NICSS employs approximately 30 people, and it has an Executive Director and a volunteer Board of Directors.

NICSS not only provides programs and services but also through their Give a Gift and WHY programs, supports community in various ways such as:
Local Breakfast Clubs at the various schools, including Port Hardy.
The local schools to purchase extra supplies that may be required by students requiring financial aid
Families Affected by Emergencies, such as house fires
High School Grads and associated costs with graduation
Community Christmas Hampers Sponsored skate/stick times at Chilton Arena
Provides subsidized spots for the Summer Day Camp
Supporting recreation in Port McNeill through donations to Port McNeill Minor Hockey and Gatehouse Theatre
Supporting our Community Links participants in attending Operation Trackshoes,
Special Olympics and Special Woodstock
